OSSSC Junior Clerk Exam Pattern 2017:
- The mode of examination shall be computer based test (CBT)
- The pattern of the examination will be multiple choice questions/ objective type questions having one correct option
- The written examination will consist of two papers – Paper I and Paper II
- Number of questions in the Paper I will be 185 for duration of 2 hours and 30 minutes
- Paper II will consist of 200 questions for 200 marks for duration of 3 hours

Odisha SSSC Junior Clerk Syllabus for the Written Examination:
Language Test (English and Odia) – The sections aim to test the understanding of the language aspect of the candidates. There will questions based on the understanding of the grammar rules, tenses, connecting of the sentences, verbs, different types of the sentences, concatenation and breaking of the sentences, error spotting, active and passive voices, direct and indirect speech, comprehension and passages to answer the questions, grammar rules in Odia, sandhi viched, translations, synonyms and antonyms, letter writing in Odia, comprehension and unseen passages etc.
General Knowledge – The section will primarily focus on the general awareness of the candidate, the section is compiled in such a way that the intelligence and memory of the candidates can be checked on day to day basis. The questions in the section will be consisting from current affairs – India and World, History of India and Odisha, Indian Polity, Constitution of India, Governing bodies and structures, Notable events, Awards, Eminent personalities, economic conditions and terminologies, reforms, sports, geography of India, World and Odisha, notable events of science and technology etc.
Mathematics – The section will focus on numerical, arithmetical, geometrical, data interpretation skills of the candidates. Focus on the basic concepts from class VI to X. Syllabus includes number system, squares, cubes, roots, profit and loss and discounts, percentages, interests – simple and compound, time, distance and speed, mixtures and proportions, DI etc.
Fundamental Computer Skills – The section will test the operational and functional skills of the candidate with respect to the computer machine. The syllabus includes fundamentals, MS office, Software and hardware of the computer, MS Excel, MS Word, Operation Systems (OS), Microsoft Windows, Internet and Intranet and other terminologies such as LAN, WAN etc, MS Power point etc.
